Hog Town Trailer

Nominated for a 2022 Regional Emmy and directed by NWA-local, Raelyn Munneke, Hog Town is a documentary feature that explores the history and complicated relationship of the annual Bikes Blues & BBQ motorcycle rally and its original host city, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Rumbles of engines overpower the calls of Pig Sooie as the college town is transformed when bikers swarm the Ozark hills four days in September. Despite the festival’s enormous economic impact, there is still controversy among residents over the influx of traffic and outsiders filling the region. Debating this topic include interviews with Mayor Lionel Jordan, business owners like Cary Arsaga and Tom Pagnozzi, representatives of non-profits, law enforcement, the university, bikers, and residents.

The extreme revenue and social impacts of the rally echo the impending progress of this top five city. Grasping tightly to the local identity, the city fears fading into a new mix of cultures. But, if too much weight is in our own identity, do we risk shutting out those not like us and the opportunities that come with change?
